Elcogen Appoints Anil Srikar Pavuluri as Business Development Director for India & APAC

Elcogen, a specialist in high-efficiency solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) technologies for clean power generation and green hydrogen production, has announced the appointment of Anil Srikar Pavuluri as Business Development Director for India and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

The appointment marks a strategic step in Elcogen’s global expansion, as the company strengthens its presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing energy markets. Based in New Delhi, Pavuluri will lead Elcogen’s growth strategy across India and the wider APAC region, focusing on identifying new business opportunities, forging strategic partnerships, and supporting the deployment of zero-carbon energy technologies.

Strengthening Regional Leadership for Clean Energy Growth

Pavuluri brings over two decades of experience in solid oxide technology, spanning the development of high-performance solid oxide cells, stacks, and modules, along with deep expertise in large-scale manufacturing operations of up to 360 MW capacity. His background combines technology, manufacturing, and commercial leadership, positioning him to play a critical role in scaling Elcogen’s advanced energy solutions across diverse markets.

In his new role, Pavuluri will work closely with utilities, industrial customers, technology partners, and policymakers to accelerate adoption of Elcogen’s SOFC and SOEC systems. These technologies enable high-efficiency clean power generation and cost-effective green hydrogen production, making them particularly relevant for energy-intensive and hard-to-abate sectors.

India and APAC: A High-Growth Energy Landscape

The appointment comes at a time when India and the broader Asia-Pacific region are witnessing rapid growth in energy demand alongside an accelerating transition toward cleaner energy systems. According to the International Energy Agency World Energy Outlook 2025, India’s energy mix is steadily shifting toward renewables.

Under current policy trajectories, solar PV and wind energy are projected to rise from around 2% of India’s energy mix today to nearly 20% by 2050, while overall energy demand continues to grow most rapidly in industry and transport.

Across the Asia-Pacific region, total final energy demand is expected to increase from approximately 450 exajoules in 2024 to more than 500 exajoules by 2035, driven by industrialisation, urbanisation, and rising living standards. This growth reinforces the urgent need for cleaner, more efficient, and dispatchable energy solutions that can support economic development while reducing emissions.

Policy Momentum Supporting Advanced Clean Technologies

India’s evolving energy and climate policy framework is creating strong momentum for advanced clean technologies. Key initiatives include:

  • Expansion of non-fossil power capacity
  • Growth in nuclear energy
  • Higher ethanol blending targets
  • Planned introduction of a carbon market

Together, these measures are expected to accelerate decarbonisation across power generation, industry, and transport. Elcogen’s SOFC and SOEC technologies are well positioned to support this transition, offering high electrical efficiency, fuel flexibility, and low emissions.

These solutions are particularly suited for hard-to-abate industrial sectors, data centres, distributed generation, and remote microgrids, where reliability, efficiency, and carbon reduction are critical.

Role in the Emerging Hydrogen Economy

Green hydrogen is emerging as a key pillar of the global energy transition, especially for sectors that are difficult to electrify directly. Elcogen’s SOEC technology enables high-efficiency hydrogen production, helping lower the cost and energy intensity of electrolysis.

Pavuluri’s appointment reflects Elcogen’s intent to play a more active role in the regional hydrogen economy, supporting projects that integrate renewable power, hydrogen production, and clean industrial applications across India and APAC.

Leadership Perspective

Commenting on his appointment, Pavuluri highlighted the strong alignment between regional energy needs and Elcogen’s technology portfolio, noting that rapid industrial growth, data centre expansion, and the push for hydrogen adoption present significant opportunities for high-efficiency clean power and hydrogen solutions.

He emphasised that collaboration with regional partners and stakeholders will be central to Elcogen’s growth strategy. As part of his role, Pavuluri will travel extensively across India and APAC, engaging with customers, policymakers, and technology partners to support market entry, pilot deployments, and commercial scale-up.

Supporting the Global Energy Transition

Elcogen’s expansion in India and APAC reflects a broader industry trend, where advanced energy technologies are increasingly required to complement renewables and address system-level challenges such as intermittency, grid stability, and industrial decarbonisation.

With strong leadership, proven technology, and growing regional demand, Elcogen aims to play a meaningful role in shaping a resilient, low-carbon energy future across some of the world’s most dynamic energy markets.
