Leadership Commentary

Commenting on the launch, Suhas Rajkumar, Founder and CEO of Simple Energy, said the Gen 2 portfolio reflects the company’s innovation-first approach and focus on real-world reliability. He noted that Indian riders have diverse needs, and Simple Ultra has been engineered specifically for customers demanding extreme range and performance without compromise.

According to him, the launch is aimed at delivering confidence and reducing range anxiety as electric mobility adoption accelerates across the country.

Market Presence and Expansion Plans

The Gen 2 scooters are available across 61+ Simple Energy showrooms in cities including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Kochi, Jaipur, and Vijayawada. Customers can also purchase select models online via Amazon and Flipkart. Simple Ultra is open for pre-bookings at showrooms.

Simple Energy plans to expand to around 150 dealerships and 200 service centres by March 2026. The company is also preparing for a potential IPO in Q2–Q3 FY27, targeting a fundraise of approximately USD 350 million, with plans to achieve EBITDA positivity before the end of FY26.

Why This Matters

The launch of a 400 km IDC-range electric scooter marks a significant development in India’s electric two-wheeler market. Long-range capability, combined with performance and connected features, directly addresses key adoption barriers such as range anxiety and usability beyond urban commuting.

By offering multiple variants across price points and performance levels, Simple Energy is positioning itself to compete across broader rider segments.

Industry Outlook

India’s electric two-wheeler market continues to evolve rapidly, with increasing emphasis on range, charging convenience, and software-driven features. As competition intensifies, manufacturers investing in in-house R&D, battery technology, and differentiated product portfolios are likely to gain an edge.

Long-range electric scooters like Simple Ultra could play a key role in expanding EV adoption beyond city-centric use cases, supporting the next phase of electric mobility growth in India.
